Cityfit is on a mission to get kids moving!

Cityfit Fitness Club will be one of the first fitness clubs in regional NSW to offer the new Les Mills youth program, BORN TO MOVE.

Kicking off with a FREE Holiday Program from Monday 14 April BORN TO MOVE is a series of choreographed fitness routines created for youth, set to a suite of interactive and current music.

Cityfit is Bathurst’s longest running fitness club, and one of the strongest in regional NSW, they have been offering Les Mills programs for the last 17 years.

“Group Fitness classes are one of the most effective forms of exercise because people are more motivated, energetic and they learn more in a coached group environment,” said Cityfit owner Margot Webster.

“The BORN TO MOVE product has been developed on the same principals; children will feel more motivated and learn more in group classes. Cityfit will give them a safe and non-competitive environment to get moving, build confidence, make new friends and most importantly have fun!” said Margot.

BORN TO MOVE was created in order to combat the growing obesity epidemic in Australia. Kids and teens are today more sedentary than ever, contributing to both mental and physical health issues. In Australia 25 per cent of children are overweight or obese, a trend which is expected to rise to 33 per cent by 2020. Further to this 50 per cent of obese adolescents will remain obese into adulthood.

The Cityfit BORN TO MOVE program is split into three programs, 4-5, 6-7 and 8-12, offering a tailored solution for each age group. The programs are designed to make physical activity an enjoyable and meaningful part of children’s lives which they will carry on into adulthood.

The Junior programs (4 to 5 years) build confidence and develop skills using simple moves, role-playing, storytelling, and imagination while the Senior programs (6 to 12 years) focus on games, coordination, team building, problem solving and expressive action. Music and choreography are updated 3 times a year to ensure children are constantly challenged and engaged.

“We are really excited about this program, my team and I get so much satisfaction from seeing the change in people as they gain confidence and health from exercise - we are on a mission to help the kids of Bathurst get moving and reverse the concerning health trends,” added Margot.
